Hello Parents,
We are off to a great start. We have over 100 PTO members and it's just the first week of school. We can't do it with out you and your help, and we are looking forward to working with all of you this year.
We have a PTO board meeting this Tuesday Sept 1, 2009 at 6:30 in Imagine Hall. All PTO members are welcome at these meetings, and we would love to see you there. If there is anything you would like to bring to the attention of the board, please e-mail it to us at islptopres@yahoo.com no later than Tuesday morning. The PTO bylaws state: Requests to present agenda items in a board meeting must be made to any board member at least one-day prior to the board meeting and must include the topic and length of time needed to make the presentation. We will only be discussing items on the agenda at this meeting. Our next board meeting is October 6, 2009 and we have a general PTO meeting scheduled November 10, 2009. All these meetings will be at 6:30 and in Imagine Hall. We also have an ice cream social on September 10, 2009. Please e-mail us by September 7, 2009 if you plan to attend so we can make sure we get enough ice cream. This is going to be a fun, get-to-know-you night; we hope to see you there.
This year we plan to have several committees set up and run by our PTO members. Each committee will have one chair person with 4-5 members. These committees will meet to plan what they would like to happen at our school this year and how we can make things even better. These meetings will be held as needed by each committee -- some may meet more or less than others. The committee chairs will bring the ideas and suggestions to the PTO board so we can approve them and you, the parents, can make it happen. Some of our committees include fundraiser, scripts(check the website for info on this great program), teacher/staff appreciation, carnival, book fair, snowman shop, community sponsorship, AR, Math Superstars, grants, and membership.
Right now our top priority is Snowman Shop. If you are interested in getting on this committee please let us know so we can get started. The shop will be the week of December 14th so we don't have much time to plan and shop. The children love this opportunity to get wrapped presents for their loved ones that they pick out. This is going to be a great year thanks to a great staff, great students, and great parents that want to make this school even better. We welcome ideas and opinions and hope to see you all very soon. And we thank you already for the contribution you have made and will make to help our kids get the best.
